As the curtain slowly draws over 2023, many people take these last few weeks to not only look forward to the year to come, but to also look back and reflect on the achievements and challenges of the previous year.

This year, we have helped thousands of learners successfully complete courses with us, and in turn, help them to gain key digital skills and knowledge to help them either secure a job, or begin their journey to achieving their dream role in 2024.

In this short blog, we’ll look back and celebrate the Digital Bytesize class of 2023, hearing from just a select few of our learners about their experiences, and why you should kickstart 2024 with one of our fully funded digital skills courses!

Nicola, Greater London

Our Digital & IT Skills pathway is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to help you get back up to speed with all things digital, and this is exactly what stood out to Nicola.

Coming into the course, she had two things in mind.

Nicola knew she had fallen behind with all things digital, but wanted to use these skills not just for herself, but also for her local community.

“Having not developed my own IT knowledge for 15 years, I knew I needed to get up-to-date. This course has done that and given me the confidence to help my local community in developing their own IT skills.”

Amber, Guildford

Already have some experience in digital? Then our Digital Bytesize course can also provide extra skills and knowledge, in areas you feel you need it, which was the case with Amber.

She had recently completed a coding bootcamp prior to enrolling on the course, but felt she needed more knowledge around website design and cyber security.

This course helped boost her knowledge in these key areas, while also helping with time management and boosting her CV in the process.

“The course really helped me to get back into a routine. Being able to network with other people and get three qualifications to add to my CV, the experience has really helped me with my career progression plan.”

Kevin, Droitwich Spa

Our Digital Bytesize course not only offers essential qualifications in digital and IT, but also provides help with employability skills.

Our tutors create an environment where learners feel comfortable to speak up and engage with not only the tutor, but with other learners throughout the course, helping to boost their overall confidence and communication skills.

Kevin, from the West Midlands, offered this bit of advice for anyone who might be apprehensive of speaking up during their classes.

“Don’t be the quiet one in the room!

“If you have a question, it’s likely someone has it too. No question is a silly question, and if it helps you, it will help someone else too!”

Mufaro, Huddersfield

Starting any new venture can be daunting, and any advice can be invaluable.

When it comes to starting one of our Digital Bytesize courses, we believe the best advice you can get comes straight from our former learners.

Mufaro completed our Digital and IT skills course, with her having two young children the idea of completing a course felt intimidating.

But she successfully completed the course, acquiring some key qualifications to add to her CV. Here’s some advice she had to give.

“GO FOR IT!!! Although it seems daunting when you see the timetable, it is possible, and you feel so proud when you get your certificates.”

Sean, Milton Keynes

Changing careers or learning new skills can also be tricky, especially if you’re feeling like you may be lagging behind with your overall knowledge of the latest technologies or devices and how to use them.

This was the case for Sean, who enrolled on our Digital Bytesize course to refresh his overall knowledge of IT, as well as pick up some new skills in digital to help him progress in his career.

“Thanks to this course, I now have new things to try and new things to build on.

“Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Heading towards 60 at an alarming rate and I’m still picking up things that I has no idea existed!”

Oswaldo, Leeds

The aim of our digital skills courses is to help get all our learners onto the next stage of their career, be this into a job or onto further learning.

This means we love to celebrate and hear the plans of our learners for the future and how the course has helped them towards their goals.

Oswaldo joined us from West Yorkshire, completing various tasks that involved elements of cybersecurity and coding. Here’s what he had to say when asked about his future plans.

“The course gave me clear insight into my existing skills and how proficient I was.

“This has allowed me to begin to pursue a career as a front-end developer. To help with my progress, I plan to do a coding bootcamp using the skills I acquired through the course.”
