One learner who recently completed our Digital and IT Skills pathway is Mufaro Mugabe from Huddersfield.

In this short blog, Mufaro discusses her experience on the course, and why you should consider joining her and hundreds of others in improving your digital skills and take your first steps to a career in IT.

Mufaro's Story

After taking an interest in IT, Mufaro was exploring her options with a view to kickstarting a potential career in this field. She discovered our Digital Bytesize course online, which she felt would provide her with the opportunity to learn key new skills, gain an accredited Level 2 qualification and develop her interest and knowledge further.

On completion of the course, Mufaro reflected on the new skills she was able to learn and how these will benefit her in her career progression.

"Throughout my time on the course, I was able to create my own website, learn how to create digital graphics, as well as practicing in networking and troubleshooting. I also created leaflets, logos and slide decks to link to my website.

"I also enjoyed the topic of Cybersecurity and found it really interesting and informative. I now have more knowledge and understanding about IT and how I can get into this field and develop my career."

Beneficial & Worthwhile

Not only did Mufaro successfully complete the course and gain an accredited qualification in Digital & IT Skills, but she also benefited from the support of her tutors to continue her learning and enhance her overall employability. She told us how the course was well worth the time she invested, as she feels she is now more prepared to pursue a career in IT.

Advice & Recommendation To Others

Mufaro told us that she now plans to further her learning by completing additional courses in digital and IT, before seeking an entry-level position in this field. When asked if she would recommend the Digital Bytesize course to others, she didn’t hesitate – and offered her own words of advice.

"GO FOR IT! It can be a little daunting when you first see the timetable. If you're like me, I had two toddlers to look after at the same time, but it's definitely possible and you feel so proud of yourself when you finish.

"Also, don't give up along the way if it gets difficult as the tutors are there to support you throughout."
