Works4U: New job secured for Claire

Works4U is an employment support programme designed to provide residents in the West Midlands with opportunities to upskill, overcome personal challenges, move into work, and gain qualifications.

The programme provides wrap-around support to help you find the right opportunity, while breaking down any barriers that could be holding you back from finding work.

One participant who recently completed the programme is Claire from Birmingham.

Claire's Story

Claire arrived on our Works4U programme in Birmingham after a long period of unemployment. She also revealed how she struggled with financial and self-esteem issues, and wasn’t sure if she’d ever find a suitable role for her.

With the help of both her Tutor and her Learning Support Advisor, we were able to identify the barriers to employment for Claire and put a plan in place to help her.

The Works4U programme has helped me gain confidence and become more motivated. They helped me by providing a bus pass too, which has made me more independent and allowed me to get to the course. I've also received support with other issues such as my self esteem and financial help from my Learning Support Advisor.

Praise For The Team

Our team supported Claire to work on her confidence and she was full of praise for the advice she received on the programme from both her Tutor (Jonathon) and her Learning Support Advisor (Debbie).

Jonathon was really nice and a very approachable person. He made the lessons interesting and easy to follow. The group sessions were really enjoyable and helped improve my confidence by interacting with others on the course.

Debbie has also supported me throughout the course with all kinds of issues, providing advice and encouragement and we connected really well.

Key Lessons & New Job Secured

Claire also reflected on her time with us and revealed how the confidence in herself developed throughout the programme, which led to her securing a new fill-time role in her local area.

The biggest lesson I learned was to believe in myself more and that I can accomplish anything that I put my mind to. Works4U believed in me and had faith in me throughout.

I now have a new job in the cleaning industry which I'm really pleased with and I surprised myself in my interview.

I have more confidence which showed in the interview. I believed I could get the job, and I did!
