The B2W Group offers a range of IT and Digital qualifications to suit the needs of individuals. As part of our scope of courses, we offer the pre-apprenticeship training course, ‘Introduction to Digital Technologies’. This course is aimed at those who are unemployed and looking to get a head-start in a digital-focused career. Since launching this course, we have supported a vast amount of learners who are interested in a digital path through developing their IT, digital and employability skills.

Digital skills play a vital role in today’s society, and according to the Employer Skills Survey Report, employers stated that one-third of vacancies they find difficult to fill is partly due to a lack of appropriate digital skills amongst applicants. Most employers will expect you to have experience with digital applications such as Excel, Word, and email clients such as Outlook. Digital Technologies covers this and so much more.

We spoke to a previous learner who has completed the ‘Introduction to Digital Technologies’ course to find out more about their experience and the knowledge and skills they gained from the course.

Robert Johnson’s Experience

“I was interested in completing this course because I wanted to gain new employability skills. I wanted to gain new qualifications to go with my existing ones and understood that digital marketing is a huge and important industry.

As part of the training course, we were tasked with planning and presenting a digital marketing project. I really enjoyed this aspect and the challenge of producing a great presentation. It allowed me to put my new knowledge into practice and build on my confidence.

I learned a lot during the three weeks of the course. One thing I learned was how to set up an IT network. Additionally, some marketing focused knowledge I learned include how to segment markets and capture data. I was also able to gain more employability skills to help secure future employment, such as interview tips and techniques and building an engaging CV.

Before starting the course, I already had an idea about the scope of digital marketing and IT careers. Now I realise, especially with the lockdown, it’s a lot more vital to possess these digital skills. Especially with the increasing need for remote work.

I would 100% recommend this course to others. I have already made a mental list of my friends who would benefit from completing this course.”
