Jack Downs is coming to the end of his Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship with The B2W Group.  During his time at The B2W Group, he has got involved in a range of marketing activities, ranging from creating content for the company social media accounts to B2B email campaigns.

Jack shared how he found the apprenticeship, and what he’s looking forward to in the future.

What made you want to pursue an apprenticeship?

The opportunity to learn valuable skills whilst also gaining relevant work experience seemed like a great deal.

Before going into the apprenticeship, what did you know about digital marketing?

I had a good understanding of the social media side of marketing since being on sites like Facebook and Twitter from an early age. However, I had very basic knowledge of the SEO side of digital marketing which I would now say is my strongest skill.

What new knowledge/skills have you learned?

As mentioned, I think my skills and knowledge in search engine optimization has increased dramatically and feel confident in making positive changes to our websites.

What responsibilities have you had since starting your apprenticeship?

Since starting my apprenticeship I have been responsible for creating content on various social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram. I have been in charge of my own B2B email campaigns that have increased attendance to our own online seminars. I was given the task of creating a website audit document which had ways in which to improve our SEO. Some of these ideas are currently being used right now.

What is your biggest achievement since starting your apprenticeship?

I would say creating a website audit document that was then used to start the optimization of our website was one of my biggest achievements so far.

What are you looking forward to in the future?

I am looking forward to learning more under The B2W Group and hope to continue my development to be the best digital marketer I can be.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?

Yes I would. Apprenticeships can be a great way to gain valuable work experience in your preferred field whilst also completing a valued qualification. I believe the experience gained over my apprenticeship has definitely set me up for success in the future.
