“Hump Day” just got “Super” at B2W Group

You may have heard the expression “hump day” when it gets around to Wednesday in your workplace. According to a report by The Telegraph, Wednesday is now the most common day during the working week where staff morale can dip, as your employees strive to “get over the hump” before the countdown to the weekend can begin.

The HR team at the B2W Group recently introduced a monthly “Super Wednesday” across our offices, to help staff break up their week and ditch any feelings of “hump day” by enjoying a range of fun activities.

Our first Super Wednesday event was held at the end of last month, with our offices in Manchester and Rotherham taking part, where staff were treated to a game of bingo in the morning, followed by a choice of takeaway food to be delivered to enjoy in the afternoon. This was followed up by a Group CEO Bitesize Update and celebration of colleagues across the business.

And following the success of the first Super Wednesday, the event will now become a regular occurrence in the B2W offices, taking place on the last Wednesday of every month, with the next one scheduled for Wednesday 28th June.

Our Associate Director of People, Ben Waite, believes the new initiative will provide a great opportunity to share our successes collaboratively, as well as adding a fun element for the different teams situated across our offices.

He said;

“We feel this is a great opportunity to bring our colleagues together and have a bit of fun within the normal working day. Re-engaging with the office environment is still a challenge as we have all adapted to a new way of working following Covid."

“I think it’s vital that we allow our staff to enjoy their work day, by providing a fun and collaborative place to work. So by introducing something as simple as this, where we’re actively encouraging our employees to step into the office, but away from their desks, we can break the day up to get to know one another and enjoy some activities together. "

“It’s also a great way of embracing the achievements of our employees, sharing personal milestones, saying thank you and recognising hard work, as well as gathering feedback from our staff which is essential when acknowledging the contributions all colleagues make to the collective success of B2W."

“Going forwards, we’ll be using Super Wednesday as a forum to update all our staff on recent company news, celebrating our successes as a group and announcing our Employee of the Month, all while getting to know each other a little better by enjoying some games and free food!”
