In the fast-paced world of digital, where industries in the creative sector such as Games Development and Website Design are constantly evolving, there’s never been a better time to learn new skills to pursue an exciting career in this field.

Our Digital Bytesize course provides a specific Creative Skills pathway, designed to equip you with everything you need to thrive in the creative industries, covering various aspects of games design and development, creating websites and an introduction to programming.

On completion of the course, you’ll receive three industry accredited qualifications to add to your CV to showcase your newfound knowledge and skills.

One learner who recently completed the program is Sam Connor from Greater London, who shares his journey and insights in this short blog, urging others to follow suit and learn brand new digital and creative skills.

Sam's Story

After a period of unemployment, Sam realised that he wanted to pursue his passion for gaming by pursuing a career in this field.

He enrolled on our fully funded Digital Bytesize course to get started, choosing the Creative Skills pathway.

I realised that I wanted to work in the tech and games industry and wanted to start learning the required skills to become a future developer and designer.

Relevant Tasks Completed

As part of the Creative Skills, Sam completed tasks that were not only required as part of the course, but were also relevant to the career he wished to pursue in the creative industries.

I completed several tasks, including creating a game from scratch, learning coding fundamentals and languages, as well as creating my own website.

I particularly enjoyed the games design unit of the course, but I also loved making the website on the technical side of things and learning how this works.

His Experience & Advice For Others

Sam also took some time to reflect on the positive experience he had while on the five-week course and offered some words of advice for fellow learners who join the course on how they can best prepare themselves before enrolling.

My advice if you're thinking of doing this course is to read up on coding and the different programming languages before you enrol. You can pick this up fairly quickly but it's always good to come prepared.

It's a great entry level course, so even if you don't know much about the topics on the course, they're explained in an easy to understand way by a very effective teacher.

Increased Confidence

Having completed the course, Sam gained three new accredited qualifications to add to his CV – Level 2 Awards in Digital & IT Skills and Website Design & Development, as well as a Level 1 Certificate in Skills for Creative Industries.

His confidence has also increased as a result and he now plans to move onto further learning in this field before pursuing employment.

I do feel much more confident in my abilities after completing this course, and that I would be able to enrol onto another course of a higher level without struggling.

I now plan to continue my learning and complete an equivalent Level 2 course to the one I have just completed.

From all of us at B2W, we wish Sam all the very best in his future digital career!
