In the fast-paced world of digital, where industries in the creative sector such as Games Development and Website Design are constantly evolving, there’s never been a better time to learn new skills to pursue an exciting career in this field.

One learner who recently completed the programme is Chidiebere from Grimsby, who shares his journey and insights about his experience in this short blog.

Chidiebere's story

Having gained an interest in web development, Chidiebere was looking for an entry-level course that would introduce him to various skills and concepts around website design.

He enrolled on our Digital Bytesize course and selected our Creative Skills pathway for this reason, something which he believes has given him the kickstart he needed to seek a career in this field.

I believe this course has established the foundation for my future in IT as a web developer. I completed two projects, one of which was focused on games design and the other was a website design project.

I enjoyed working on the two projects we created during the course, as they provided me with a sense of working in a professional setting.

Praise for tutor

Chidiebere was also full of praise for his tutor, Nikki, who helped him and his fellow learners on the course to understand more about working in the IT industry and what they can expect should they wish to pursue a future career in this area.

I enjoyed the lecture deliveries by our amazing tutor (Nikki). She was highly informative and provided some eye-opening information about the IT industry.

She was also incredibly competent in her profession and very encouraging, and I enjoyed her teaching style.

Advice for others and next steps

Not only did Chidiebere successfully complete the course, but he also gained a total of three accredited qualifications as a result, including Level 2 awards in Digital & IT Skills and Website Design & Development, as well as a Level 1 certificate in Skills for Creative Industries.

He offered some words of advice for anyone else thinking of joining the Digital Bytesize course, and also shared his plans for seeking further training and education in the IT industry to pursue his goal of becoming a web developer.

I would advise to take part in this course because it will give you the foundational skills needed to kick-start your IT career.

I now know much more about the IT industry and have developed the skills needed for an entry-level position.

I plan to seek more training to become a web developer, either through a bootcamp or via an apprenticeship.
