Works4U: Teigan's Story | The B2W Group

In the latter part of 2023, we launched our brand new provision, Works4U.

Works4U is an employment support programme for residents in Birmingham and the West Midlands, designed to provide opportunities to upskill, overcome personal challenges, move into work, and gain qualifications.

The programme provides wrap-around support to help you find the right opportunity, while breaking down any barriers that could be holding you back from finding work.

The new programme has seen major early success, as we begin to see the impact of the work on learners and the local community, such as with our highlighted learner today, Teigan Jones.

Teigan's Story

Works4U provides all learners with a dedicated key worker to help them through their time on the course, something Teigan benefited greatly from.

Working with others

“My keyworker worked closely with me to support me with my interview skills, which helped put my nerves at ease and feel fully prepared for my interview.”

Our courses are filled with a diverse group of people, all from different backgrounds starting at various points. It’s important for us as a group to not only focus on our relationship with our learners one on one, but also how each learner can be interactive with one another as a cohort, creating connections and using each other as motivation.

“My peers were also incredibly supportive of me and vice versa, we helped each other. It felt like a real community.”

Building confidence within yourself

A vast amount of our learners enrol with us in the hope of not only gaining qualifications and employment support, but also to help boost their overall confidence as a person. This was certainly the case with Teigan, who up to this point had found social interaction somewhat difficult.

The main aim of the Works4U programme is to get learners back into work and succeeding with their career goals, and we are happy to say this is exactly what happened with Teigan, who received a job offer from ourselves at B2W!
