Digital Bytesize - Learner Feedback: Dominik Scibor

In the fast-paced world of digital, where industries in the creative sector such as Games Development and Website Design are constantly evolving, there’s never been a better time to learn new skills to pursue an exciting career in this field.

Our Digital Bytesize course provides a specific Creative Skills pathway, designed to equip you with everything you need to thrive in the creative industries, covering various aspects of games design and development, creating websites and an introduction to programming.

On completion of the course, you’ll receive three industry accredited qualifications to add to your CV to showcase your newfound knowledge and skills.

One learner who recently completed the programme is Dominik from Greater Manchester, who shares his journey and insights in this short blog, urging others to follow suit and learn some key creative digital skills.

Dominik's Story

Having recently left his job, Dominik was looking for a fresh start and had an interest in pursuing a new career in digital. He was also interested in trying something new and wanted to follow his passion for gaming, so enrolled on our Digital Bytesize course for this reason.

I joined the course as I wanted to try and see if this would be something for me. It was free and very informative, and I gained new and relevant skills as a result. It also showed me that I'm capable of taking this particular career path and focus on digital skills going forwards.

Passion For Gaming

As part of the Creative Skills pathway, learners are tasked with coming up with their own idea for a game and building this using online gaming software. This was very appealing for Dominik, who also mentioned some of the other tasks he enjoyed while on the course.

One of my favourite projects that I completed was to create a prototype of a game, as well as being introduced to the creative industries and creating a website. Games design and development was very interesting as I'm a gamer in my spare time, so learning how to create a game and everything involved in it was very enjoyable for me.

Taking The Leap

Having completed the course, Dominik gained Level 2 awards in Website Design & Development and Digital & IT Skills, as well as a Level 1 certificate in Skills for Creative Industries.

He also told us how he now plans on joining a creative skills bootcamp to advance his learning further before pursuing new career opportunities. He offered this advice for anyone thinking of enrolling on our Digital Bytesize course.

My advice would be to throw caution to the wind and to try to not feel too overwhelmed and afraid of trying something new. You'll gain new skills that can only benefit you and your career.
