"It was a wonderful experience" - Digital Bytesize: Learner Feedback

Digital Technologies and Digital & IT Skills to gain key qualifications in these areas.

One learner who recently completed the Digital & IT Skills pathway is Jordan from Leicester.

In this short blog, Jordan shares details about his experience with us and his advice for anybody thinking of enrolling on this particular course.

Jordan's Story

Our Digital & IT Skills course has been designed for those who are seeking a future career in Digital and IT Technical Support, Cyber Security and Software Development. This is something which intrigued Jordan, as he’d always thought about pursuing a career in IT, but wasn’t sure about the types of roles that would be best suited for him.

"I wanted to expand my knowledge within the IT industry, I've known for some time that I wanted to do something in IT, but didn't know specifically what.

"By enrolling on this course, I gained more knowledge of the different industries within IT and a better understanding of which role was right for me."

Wide Range Of Topics Covered

Jordan reflected on the range of units he completed as part of his learning, as well as revealing his favourite topic covered on the course. He also spoke about his overall enjoyment while on the course and getting to know his fellow students.

"I completed a range of units including digital skills, programming, presentation skills, spreadsheet software, networking, cyber security and digital graphics.

"I have to say that networking was my favourite, it was really interesting to know what really goes on when you connect a device to a network and how it works.

"I enjoyed learning about exciting units that I was curious about, but also really enjoyed the stories of the other students and Brian, our tutor.

"Overall it was a wonderful experience and I'm going to miss everyone very much."

Praise For Tutor

Jordan also offered an insight into the delivery of the course, and how his Tutor made sure the course was fully inclusive for each learner.

"Despite it being an intensive course, it never felt rushed and the tutor always ensured that we understood everything, always answered questions during deliveries to ensure we could absorb everything and were happy to go back if we needed something explaining again.

"My tutor also made sure to moderate the pacing of the course to suit the progress level of the class, so that no one was left behind."

Advice For Others

When it comes to enrolling for an online course, it can feel just as daunting as walking into a classroom for the first time. Jordan offered some words of advice on this, and some insight into what to expect from our tutors.

"Go for it, and don't be afraid to ask questions. The tutors are lovely and care far more about ensuring you fully understand the course and come away with the knowledge necessary to excel, than merely meeting the quota of the exam specifications."

Next Steps

Jordan finished by telling us what his plans are for the next stage of his career, now that he’s gained more skills, knowledge and understanding of various areas of Digital & IT, as well as a Level 2 Diploma to add to his CV.

"Make no mistake, this course has helped me no end. However, I am a very cautious and nervous person by nature, so more training will be required before I feel confident to pursue a job in my desired role. I tend to over-prepare for fear of not being up to the task.

"My plan is to now seek further training, as I have a better understanding of what I would like to do."
