George Ball, a Digital Marketing Apprentice at The B2W Group, is currently working towards the completion of his Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship. Based in Rotherham, George plays a key role in the marketing team and is responsible for a number of tasks to ensure the department’s success.
We spoke to George about his experience so far on the apprenticeship scheme, as well as what he’s looking forward to in the future.
What made you want to pursue an apprenticeship?
I wanted to pursue the apprenticeship route so that I could gain a recognised qualification. I also wanted to dive deeper into the digital side of marketing.
Before going into the apprenticeship, what did you know about digital marketing?
Before I started the apprenticeship, I didn’t know much about digital marketing. I did have a bit of knowledge about pay-per-click, and how that plays a role in marketing.
Since starting the apprenticeship, what new knowledge have you learned?
Some of the key topics I’ve learned about include using social media for business and creating professional and engaging content to increase customer engagement. I have also learned about collecting and analysing data to improve future campaigns. Additionally, I have expanded my knowledge of website and SEO (search engine optimisation) usage.
What responsibilities have you had since starting your apprenticeship?
I’ve planned and created my own content for social media posts. As well as this, I have worked on email campaigns, including creating the design and content which have been sent out to potential consumers.
I have also been involved in managing and optimising the company website.
What is your biggest achievement since starting your apprenticeship?
As part of my social media management, I have grown the monthly reach from 300 to 4000 in a short period of time.
What are you looking forward to in the future?
I have learned a wide variety of skills and knowledge during my apprenticeship. I would like to use more of my skills to make a further impact on someone’s online presence or business presence overall.
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others? If so, why?
Yes I would recommend an apprenticeship. It’s a great route and provides the learner with many topics. All of the content of the apprenticeship is beneficial to know when you’re marketing a business online.
