Works4U is an employment support programme designed to provide residents in the West Midlands with opportunities to upskill, overcome personal challenges, move into work, and gain qualifications.

The programme provides wrap-around support to help you find the right opportunity, while breaking down any barriers that could be holding you back from finding work.

One participant who recently completed the programme is Asifa from Birmingham.

Asifa's Story

Asifa arrived on our Works4U programme with a lack of confidence in finding full-time employment in the local area and wasn’t really sure how to get started, or how to properly prepare for job interviews.

With the support of both her tutor and keyworker, we were able to unlock this confidence and provide Asifa with some useful tips to successfully present herself at the interview stage.

"My tutor and my keyworker have supported me throughout the course, helping me to get all the tasks done on time. They are very nice and good to work with.

"They also went out of their way to help me sort out my problems and without their help, I wouldn't have completed the course."

"So I would like to say thank you to them, I appreciate all of the help that they gave me.

Key Life Skills

Not only did Asifa successfully complete the programme, gaining an accredited Level 1 Award in Essential Digital Skills, but she also learned key skills to help her throughout her search for a new role, especially when it comes to the interview stage and working with others.

"The main thing that I learnt on the programme is how to prepare for interviews, what to say and what not to say, as well as how to manage conflicts and how to work with people as part of a team."

Increased Confidence

Asifa also reflected on how the Works4U programme has left her feeling more confident and ready to pursue full-time opportunities in Birmingham and the West Midlands. She also offered her thoughts about the benefits of the programme for future participants.

"I now feel more confident after completing the course and getting into the mindset of starting work. I would recommend people to do this course as it's interesting and engaging, as well as for the support you receive to help find employment."

Congratulations Asifa! We wish you all the very best in your future career!
