Our Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism course is designed to help you develop and extend your overall knowledge of autism, and progress into further learning or employment within health and social care.

This includes completing several units that cover a wide range of behavioural, developmental and safeguarding issues you may encounter when caring for children with autism and how to support them.

One learner who recently completed the course is Donna Williams from Hemel Hempstead.

Donna's Story

As a parent to an autistic child, Donna wanted to learn more about Autism for not only her own understanding at home, but in her line of work too.

She enrolled onto our fully-funded Understanding Autism course, which also provided her with the opportunity to strengthen her CV with a Level 3 certificate on completion.

Reflecting on her experience on the course, she praised the support of her tutor, Suzanne, and the overall content of the course she completed.

"I really enjoyed this course. The group interaction with other learners was great, as well as the group work, the research we were asked to undertake and really just each task we needed to complete the various units were all very enjoyable. It was extremely informative and interactive.

"I also have to say, Suzanne was amazing. She is an absolute star of a tutor and made the course immensely enjoyable. She was also very approachable and invited questions throughout."

Positive Outcomes & Advice For Others

Donna also told us that she now has a greater overall understanding of Autism since completing the course, which will benefit both her home life and in her career.

"I feel I now have a greater awareness and understanding of Autism to help with my own child, as well as in my consultancy work. I also feel extremely well prepared to now go on to the next level of research as a good understanding of Autism has been established."

She also offered some words of advice for anyone thinking of enrolling on the course, with a nod to the content of the course and the intensity of the learning.

"I would advise others to just prepare themselves as best they can for the learning journey. It can be an intensive course at times and the pace is quite fast.

"I'd also say, make sure you do not have any additional distractions, as it may develop a conflict of interest while you're learning."

Congratulations again Donna, and the very best of luck in your career!
