Clare Picton is a Nursery Practitioner in the Greater Manchester area. She wanted to expand her knowledge to further her development in her role and found that the TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children & Young People’s Mental Health was what interested her the most, as this course can benefit her both in her job role and everyday life.
This qualification covers the concept of mental health and the legalisation that applies to children and young people. It provides learners with an understanding of the risks mental illness poses and allows them to successfully recognise signs and guide parents, carers and colleagues with help and support.
Flexible Learning Solution
Clare faced the challenge of working, being a mother of three young children, and then fitting in the time to study. Having the support and encouragement from her dedicated Tutor has given her the tools to remain positive and productive and she is on target to complete the course, despite having an already busy professional and personal schedule.
Our distance learning qualifications can be accessed at any time using an online learning platform to study and then complete units. This means that learners can study during their spare time and away from their everyday responsibilities, which is why they are a great choice for those who are employed who may not have the time to dedicate to other classroom-based qualifications.
Next Steps
Clare will continue to complete the remainder of the qualification and use the knowledge and skills she has gained to support or recognise others with mental ill health. She believes that this will also help to support and progress her within her role within the nursery, as she is responsible for caring for young children.
Children & Young People’s Mental Health
Mental health problems affect around 1 in 8 children and young people. These issues include depression, anxiety and conduct disorder and can often be a direct response to occurrences in their lives. Emotional wellbeing is just as important as a child’s mental health, therefore it is important for those working with children and young people to have a good understanding of the concepts, risk factors and impact of mental health.
Our Level 2 Distance Learning qualification is completed fully online with support from a tutor. It is fully funded and comes at no cost to the learner or employer. If you would like to find out more about this qualification, you can visit here.
