As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re celebrating and highlighting some of our recent learners who have progressed into full-time paid apprenticeships in their chosen industries.

An apprenticeship is a great way to combine both practical and hands-on experience in a job role that interests you, with the certifications that employers are looking for.

Plus, you get the added benefit of being able to “earn as you learn”.

Our digital & IT apprenticeships are delivered by Just IT – with apprenticeships available in Data, IT and Digital Marketing at some of the UK’s most recognised companies, such as Sainsbury’s, Harrod’s and Google.

One learner who recently completed an apprenticeship as a Digital Marketing Executive is Amy Weir.

Amy Weir - recently completed her digital marketing apprenticeship

Amy's story

After finishing her A Levels, Amy had a particular interest in pursuing a career in digital marketing.

She got in touch with our digital and IT apprenticeships provider, Just IT, to discuss the possible entry routes into this industry.

Amy decided to apply for a paid apprenticeship with global events agency, Broadsword, as a Digital Marketing Apprentice.

After successfully landing the apprenticeship, Amy was able to learn key practical and digital skills, all while continuing her studies at London South Bank University.

"I learnt many new skills and technologies that were incredibly useful through my apprenticeship, such as the basics of building a website as well as applying SEO knowledge to Content Management Systems."

From Apprentice, to full time employee

We’re pleased to say that since completing her apprenticeship in August and gaining a Distinction, Amy has since gone on to secure a full-time role at Broadsword as a Digital Marketing Executive.

"Completing an apprenticeship with Just IT allowed me to experience working in the career I wanted to explore.

"It was also a great starting point to get into marketing, gain relevant experience, and learn skills that I was able to apply to my role."

Advice for others

Having enjoyed a positive experience throughout her Digital Marketing apprenticeship, Amy offered some words of advice for others who may be thinking about becoming an apprentice in this industry.

"Apprenticeships are a great entry into a new industry or career. Joining the workforce through an apprenticeship has given me many opportunities for career progression."

Congratulations Amy, and the very best of luck in your new full-time role!
