Our Building Futures programme provides employability support for those aged 19 – 24 in South Yorkshire, along with key digital qualifications.

Each learner receives individualised, tailored support to help them achieve their goal and move closer to their dream job. Working with their own mentor and keyworker, they have access to tailored packages of support to help build their future.

One learner who recently completed the programme was Jack Robinson.

Jack's Story

Jack arrived on our Building Futures programme with an interest in learning the fundamentals of games design. He was at a point in his life where he wanted to focus on developing his interest in games and website design to hopefully forge a career in this area.

After successfully completing the programme, we spoke to Jack to ask him about his experience, and to find out how the programme helped him boost his overall employability.

"I signed up for the Building Futures programme to learn extra skills when it came to website and games design, and to ensure there was less of a gap in my CV. I'd say it has definitely added more to my CV and I think it has also improved my confidence when it comes to searching for jobs."

New Skills & Motivation

Jack also told us how he’s now looking forward to pursuing an entry-level position in digital as he looks to kickstart his career following completion of the Building Futures programme, where he gained some relevant digital qualifications, as well as some key soft skills such as interview techniques ready for starting full-time employment.

"Being active on the course made my days feel less aimless, so giving me something to do during the day was definitely helpful for me, as it gave me more focus and determination to succeed. I also really enjoyed the games design section of the course the most and hope to continue my development in this area."
