Our Building Futures programme provides employability support for those aged 19 – 24 in South Yorkshire, along with key digital qualifications.

Each learner receives individualised, tailored support to help them achieve their career goals and move closer to their dream job. Working with their own mentor and keyworker, they also have access to tailored packages of support to help build their future.

One learner who recently completed the programme was Millie Asquith.

About Millie

Millie arrived on our Building Futures programme after a period of unemployment, where she struggled to realise what type of career she was interested in pursuing. With the help of her tutor and learning support advisor, we were able to identify the types of roles she may be interested in, along with adding some much needed structure to her life.

I needed direction on what career I wanted to pursue. This programme really helped to put enough structure in my day to wake up early for.

Confidence Boost

Millie reflected on what she most enjoyed about the Building Futures programme, and how her confidence and communications skills were improved as a result.

I most enjoyed the games design aspect of the programme. I also enjoyed socialising with people who were like me, and hitting my goals and targets. My overall confidence and communication skills have also really bloomed.

Next Steps

Our Building Futures team in South Yorkshire are dedicated to improving the lives of our participants, with individual support provided by one of our learning support advisors for each participant on the programme. Our team worked with Millie to help her realise the next steps of her journey to securing a role in games design by seeking further qualifications in this subject.

I will be going to college to build upon my games design qualification. I didn't know how to make money making art, but now I'm working my way towards becoming a Games Artist.
