In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, the need to upskill in all things IT has never been more crucial.

Our Digital & IT Skills course is designed to equip our learners with the essential knowledge and expertise they need to thrive, with a focus on programming, cybersecurity and IT support.

On completion of the course, all learners receive an industry accredited Level 2 qualification to add to their CV, to showcase their newfound knowledge and skills.

One learner who recently completed the programme is Phillip from Leeds, who shares his journey and insights about his experience in this short blog, 

Phillip's story

Having recently completed a separate course with Back2Work Complete Training, Phillip was given the opportunity to further his learning in digital and IT skills by enrolling on our Digital Bytesize course. This is something that sparked an interest that he carried with him since his secondary education, and an opportunity which he says he couldn’t turn down.

I've been interested in an IT career since being at school, but due to my lack of self confidence and the pressure to get into work, it didn't happen.

After I completed a contact centre course recently, I found out about this one, so I took the chance to finally do something I've always wanted to do.

Discovering new interests

Phillip was excited to learn more about networking and computer programming before starting the course, but throughout his time on the programme, he discovered a new area of IT that he enjoyed, which he says he’s now focused on pursuing for his future career.

It was the programming section of the course I was initially most looking forward to. However, I really enjoyed learning about IT support and I now feel this is something I could do for work.

Advice for others

Phillip also offered some words of advice for anyone else thinking of joining the Digital Bytesize course, as well as giving some insight into the flexibility offered while on the course.

Do it, it is really informative and my tutor (Brian) was always happy to go over things and answer questions if we weren't sure of anything.

The course was also really well presented and the fact that the lessons were recorded and sent to us was a massive help, especially to me as I had both a GP and a hospital appointment to attend during the course.

Next steps

Not only did Phillip successfully complete the course, but he also gained a Level 2 diploma in Digital & IT Skills – an accredited qualification to add to his CV to boost his overall employability. He concluded his feedback by letting us know his plans for the future and his next steps.

I will now be looking to further my education and look at getting into an entry level IT support role. At the same time, I would love to improve my knowledge of the role. I have been given a lot of knowledge that I can look back on and use in interviews for potential jobs.
