LGV BOOTCAMP

The B2W Group is delivering  LGV Bootcamps as part of a government initiative to tackle skills gaps across the country. We are giving employees the opportunity to gain skills to support their progression within their existing workplace and self-employed individuals the skills to gain new business opportunities. For those out of work, Skills Bootcamps build up sector-specific skills and offer a fast track to a guaranteed interview. This course is suitable if you’re new to heavy goods vehicle (LGV) driving, or you’re returning to driving.

COURSE CONTENT 

The programme is designed to build your knowledge and hands-on skills which are needed to help you pursue your career in LGV driving. The Bootcamp will run across 6-15 weeks, and there are two pathways, those looking to obtain their CAT C licence, and those seeking their CAT C+E licence. Both pathways include job interview and driving assessment preparation.

PATHWAY 1 – CAT C (11 Weeks) 

A Cat C licence covers vehicle and trailer combinations over 3,500 kg but under 32 tonnes
  • EU Driver Hours & Digital Tachograph
  • Driving Alongside Vulnerable Road Users
  • Carbon Emissions
  • Daily Walkaround Vehicle Checks
  • Driver Health and Vehicle Loading
  • Safe and Fuel-Efficient Driving (SAFED)
  • ACT Awareness Training
  • First Aid Essentials Preparation
  • Basic Safe Manual Handling Techniques
  • Principles of Health & Safety Training
  • Mod 1a Theory Test preparation
  • Mod 1b Hazardous Perception preparation
  • Mod 2 CPC
  • Mod 3a & 3b Practical Driver Training & Tests
  • Mod 4 CPC
  • Job Interview and Driving Assessment Preparation

PATHWAY 2 – CAT C + E (14 Weeks)

Cat C+E holders can operate heavier articulated combinations of up to 44 tonnes.

HGV 5

ELIGIBILITY:

Skills Bootcamps are available to all adults, regardless of prior attainment aged 19+. 

Applicants must;

Be living in North of Tyne or West of England and either; employed, self-employed, career changers, returners to work or unemployed within the last 12 months.

• Have access to a reliable internet connection with a PC/ Laptop.

• Have the right to live and work in the UK.

• Hold a full UK Driving License

• Less than 6 points

• Have lived in the UK/EU for the last 3 year
