Principles of Dementia and Care

OVERVIEW

This level 3 qualification will develop learners’ knowledge and understanding of caring for individuals with dementia. It will include types of dementia and the importance of early diagnosis. Learners will understand how to have a person-centred approach in dementia care and how to communicate, interact, and support the use of mediation to support those with dementia.

This distance learning qualification is fully funded and comes at no cost to the employee or employer.

COURSE CONTENT

  • Enable rights and choices of individuals with dementia whilst minimising risks
  • End of life and dementia care
  • Understand the process and experience of dementia
  • Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach
  • Understand the role of communication and interactions with individuals who have dementia
