Joe Marney recently completed the Level 2 Principles of Team Leading qualification with The B2W Group. Joe had served in Her Majesty’s Armed Services in the past, and had returned to civilian life as an HGV driver based in Birmingham. He realised that this opened up a window of opportunity for progression. Wanting to improve his career prospects, he decided to take part in a distance learning qualification.
Team Leading
Our Team Leading qualification is for individuals wanting to develop their knowledge and understanding of being a team leader. This includes planning, allocating and monitoring work for those they are responsible for, as well as giving appropriate feedback and briefs to team members.
It covers important aspects and prepares learners for difficult situations such as managing conflict and resolving problems.
Flexible Learning
Life as a HGV driver can be busy with drivers being constantly on the road. Therefore, it can be hard for them to make the time to further their learning. One of the reasons Joe wanted to go down the route of distance learning is that it provides flexibility around completing the course. These courses are completed fully online, and they enable learners to complete them in their own time through our online learning platform.
Joe’s Experience
As Joe had not taken part in any kind of academic study for a long period of time, he began the course with low confidence. This quickly changed and Joe remained enthusiastic and energetic. He was focused, motivated and completed this stage of his learner journey ahead of schedule and showed great improvement in his knowledge. He received good, consistent tutor feedback and encouragement throughout the course duration.
Outcomes
Along with improving his confidence and team leading skills, Joe has also recently accepted a new role as a Prison Officer. Joe commented that the course had helped him to take these steps and progress into this new career.
